Listen now | On Sunday March 26, 2023, at 9 pm, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his Minister of Defence, General Yoav Gallant, for daring to warn the nation that we are in a dire security predicament. He urged the Prime Minister to pause the frenetic rush to pass the controversial legislation that most Israelis think will be the death knell of liberal democracy in the country. Netanyahu’s impulsive move sparked protests within minutes, throughout Israel, demanding that Gallant be reinstated and his advice heeded. The last 24 hours in Israel have been as dramatic as any in its 75 year history. The country is paralyzed by protests. The main international airport, factories, ports, shops, universities, everything is shut down. National strike. This has nothing to do with being right or left wing. This is about preserving democracy. Hundreds of thousands took to the streets last night and the protests have yet to subside. We may well be on the brink of civil war. Have a listen.
And you believe all these “actions” are democratic and protect your illusions of what democracy is. You and your ilk are anti- democratic. Shame on you believing you are on the right side of history. A national plebiscite vote to finally determine whose position is more democratic would have been possible at the onset but you and your group muddied the waters, made the government more intransigent and now divided Israel more than ever!
