What happened in Amsterdam is abhorrent but I find myself uncomfortably surprised that something like that did not occur here in Canada first. It leaves me with a dread that protesters in Canada will now plan to top what occurred in Amsterdam and the government that is supposed to protect all Canadians will declare it as “understandable”. I absolutely loathe what Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh have done to this country!

Look forward to the podcast.

Will finish the pod and drop tomorrow. I’ve been down this very intense rabbit hole now since Friday morning. And I have learned so much. Each country and city has its quirks and history. But wow. Wait’ll you hear about some of this Dutch stuff. It is just luck that something like that has not yet gone down in Canada. Do you feel the police there would run to respond to a distress call of Jews being beaten?

Don’t answer. Thx for your note.

I think I understand how Roth felt. Living just across the water in the UK, Amsterdam is just an hour's flight. I was there two years ago. Luckily I avoided the Ubers. Jewish schoolchildren take trips there from the UK. The pogrom left me very shaken - not just the attacks but the rush to both downplay and justify it. If violence against Jews can happen in the Netherlands and France, it can happen in the UK too. I'm both frightened and furious - not a healthy combination. Thank you for helping us fight back.

Thank you for putting some gas in my tank. What a lovely message. My reference to Roth was very intentional. I share much of the gloom, to be honest. I mean. It is staring us right in the face. I’m reading at the moment a memoir of a literary journalist who worked in soup kitchens in the Warsaw ghetto. Incredible nuance and dignity. A masterful work.

We have to be smart and tough. 🙏👍
