Thanks for the insights on Bibi. I first encountered him in D.C. in 1983 at an anti-terrorism conference. Journalists Claire Sterling and George Will were also there. Bibi came across to me (someone who knew very little about anything) as very bright, self -assured and tough. The kind of guy I'd want running things if I lived in his tough neighborhood. Fast forward to Oct. 8, in Virginia. At a post-wedding gathering, Jewish friends (I am a lapsed Presbyterian) discussed the unfolding situation in Israel and what they saw as a rise in anti-Semitism in the U.S. The bright spot was Bibi, unanimously seen as the right guy to have in charge. One person noted that Bibi would "turn Gaza into sand" if conditions warranted. To this small group, Bibi is strong, decisive, and unshakable. These were all older people. Perhaps there's a generational divide on this issue, as on most others.
