"settler-colonialism" does so much work for people. It's fantastical and highly related to "From Turtle Island to Palestine, Occupation is a crime?" Both sentiments imply putting the genie back in the bottle.

I believe a huge part of leftism today is preforming. Especially with claims as momentous as "let's segregate all of society back into their racial origins." Many anti-capitalism claims have this unseriousness underlying them as well. I'm at a loss to explain:

Why do people fight so hard for ideas they wouldn't even like?

Million dollar question. I'm working hard to understand that......and more. Putting it al together in a book that will be out in late February, I expect. A combination of ignorance, floundering identity and a dose of plain stupid. To be overly simplistic...:) The marriage of Islamo-fascism with extreme "progressives" (nothing progressive about them) is a real humdinger.

You nailed it. Longpre has a record of inciting propaganda at the TDSB long before Oct 7 2023. She made similar anti Israel noise imposed upon children in 2021 at Public schools Earl Grey and Marc Garneau. She has been noted repeatedly as per her privilege on the Sunshine List.

You know this: We must remember that the vandalism imposed upon Indigo on Bay Street in November of 2023 was managed by York U and TDSB academic executive.

Thanks again Vi for Vitamine.

I hadn't heard of her until a month or so ago. But you could see from her twitter feed, before she locked it down, that she definitely had strong views. Her downfall was in believing that it was appropriate for her to bring them into the classroom. There''s a lot of that in TDSB. I dealt with it with my own kids more than 10 years ago. The figt that keeps on giving. Shana tova, Queen.....:)

If there was one thing more depressing than the actual memory of October 7th it is the outburst and cruelty of the pro-Hamas camp and their progressive friends. Events here in Vancouver are just starting, but images from Toronto, London are dreadful. The Dutch can get ready for pro-Hamas 'sit-ins' on key railway stations on Monday, the very Dutch railways that actively participated in the deportations 80 years ago. Yes, they know how to pick their venues. And Amsterdam's mayor is publicly backing them up. My point: the anti-Semitism is becoming more and more institutionalized and accepted. It seems there is no point of return.

Bullseye, Pieter. It's like we woke up one day and the whole world had had a lobotomy. A flip switched. Those of us still capable of independent thought and who have some rudimentary knowledge of history are really being called on by humanity to step up. I'm glad that you bring up the very active collaboration of the Dutch with the Nazis in WWII. I have seen estimates of the number of Dutch Jews murdered in the Holocaust ranging from 75% to 90%. The disparity is likely attributable to the large number of German Jews who moved to the Netherlands after 1933, thinking they'd be safe there. They were probably not "counted" as Dutch. Among them. of course, is one of the most famous Holocaust victims, Anne Frank. Without robust local support and collaboration the local Jewish population would not have been ravaged as it was. At the same time, it is important to note that the Dutch supported a fierce and feared resistance movement. The work they did in horrific circumstances saved so many. I hope that I am never tested as those very brave men and women were in the Netherlands in that horrible time. And yet, here we are again. It's someone else's turn to be at the tip of the pointy spear. Or. Maybe we should skip the blood lust altogether. Wouldn't that be a nice change?

Out of 140,000, 102,000 Dutch Jews were murdered (I believe that number included registered German Jewish refugees). In addition to collaboration (notably Dutch police and it was not until 2011 that a book about its role was finally written) there were three other key reasons: (1) Dutch government was extremely well organized in terms of data gathering, the Nazis only had to pull existing public records to find out who was who (2) Dutch Jews were assimilated into a relatively tolerant society and did not have the hard survival skills Eastern European Jews had developed (3) no mountains, no big forests, small and flat: no good places to hide.

Dutch Railways paid out damages in 2019 (!) after a decade long case brought by survivor Salo Muller was finally settled.

I was in Montreal recently. It was not European, very trashy. I understand there used to be large Jewish community in Montreal but they seem to have been replaced by francophone arabs. I saw some pro-Hamas type stickers, a couple blatantly antisemetic graffiti. I have no idea what the schools are like but some of Canada's best universities are there. You'd think Trudeau and the leaders would want to stop this but apparently not. What should people do?

It's interesting. Many non-Canadians still regard McGill as being the best in Canada. Hasn't been so since the 70s. The election of a separatist Parti Quebecois government in 1976 caused an immediate exodus of many native English speakers. A huge number came to Toronto but they really scattered all over Canada and the US. In the ensuing decades the Montreal Jewish community has changed dramatically, as has the rest of the city. Trudeau could care less, as long as his elitist pur laine pals are taken care of. The entrenched and historical Quebecois elites are doing just fine. The rest are irrelevant to him. What should people do? Take stock. Look around. Be honest with themselves. And ask: What is this place likely to become in the next decade or two? Then decide.
