Glad you are sticking around for the election Vivian. This country needs all the help it can get after 10 years of total mismanagement of the country. I am also happy to hear you speak positively of Premier Smith. She seems to be the target of much of eastern Canada lately. The division in this country has really deepened thanks to the Trudeau government although eastern Canada seems to be totally oblivious to that fact. It will become much worse if the Carney liberals win.
Well - I actually have to fly back before E-day but I'll be here long enough to help out and to cast my ballot. I have long admired Danielle from afar but was really blown away by her in person. She is so dignified, articulate and smart. I happen to agree with her policies and political approach. I guess that makes me an atypical "Easterner." Being in Calgary was like being on another planet. My daughter (who lives in Toronto) felt the same. People are "normal." We weren't on edge as we are in Toronto. I agree - if Carney wins I think this country is done. He will make Trudeau's Canada look like a picnic. There is a nastiness so hard-baked into his arrogance.....I'm glad I'm here at this moment so that I can participate fully. Fingers crossed.....
There you are! (although I saw that your presence on X). I "second" all that Glenn has written (I'll leave it at that, for my sanity). If I were young, I'd be busy right now, planning to relocate to Alberta in case Apr 28 turns sour.
Hi Hilda. Lovely to hear from you. I spent a few days in Calgary and - wow - another universe. One of my kids is in her early 30s - and I assure you that she and pretty much all her friends and colleagues (younger ones in health care sector) are not sticking around long if Carney prevails. I am genuinely gobsmacked by the voter apathy - in terms of doing the work to become informed. Very said to watch.
I'll be dropping more regularly. now - as always. v
Thanks, Dalia. Indeed, it is not "happy".....but it sure is meaningful. Reminds us of our incredible good fortune and how important we have to work to ensure it continues. Lovely to meet you at well. What a fabulous night.
A crucial election indeed. And October 7th and the related antisemitism and misinformation is all around us on the campaign trail. It is hard work convincing my neighbours what is going on in the Middle East. This is not helped by the incumbent Liberal MP in my riding (WestVan-SeatoSky) who is part of this group of cross-party candidates: https://votepalestine.ca/
